The newly Tiguan hits 0 to 60 mph in 8.2 seconds with an all-wheel-drive setup. That time is nowhere near the class-leading Honda CR-V’s 7.6 seconds.

The 4Motion system is also available and it includes driver-selectable modes. The customers can now change modes like On-Road, Off-Road and Custom Off-Road. The On-Road model comes with additional modes, Normal, Sport, Eco and Custom.

The German company will also offer a much more attractive plug-in hybrid model that is called 2019 VW Tiguan GTE Active. This SUV is the first time presented to the public on Frankfurt auto show. Its design, engine and the tech are the features that make this model different from the base one. It comes with very attractive and recognized Dragon Red paint.

However, this is not all changes, the Hybrid model will also posses strips in the air-vent, attractive alum wheels with 45/70R-16 tires, C-shaped fog lamps and unique grill.

Interior Difference

As for the interior changes compared to the base one Tiguan, the 2019 VW Tiguan GTE active will be equipped with much more bigger 9.2-inch high-resolution display, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity and Mirror Link. The seats of this model are more comfortable with GTE logo on it.

As we already said this model comes with the plug-in hybrid system. The engine that will power this SUV is a mighty 2.0-liter gasoline engine and two electric motors. One of the engines will power the front and will make around 54 HP. The next one electric motor will be connected to rear with an output of 114 HP. Furthermore, this hybrid model comes with a 2,4 kW lithium-ion battery that will give on the all-electric drive around 20 miles.

With all that engines the new 2019 VW Tiguan GTE active will come with a total output of 221 HP. This model is able to run from o to 60 mph in 6,4 sec with the top speed of 120 mph. As for nonofficial rumors the new plug-in hybrid model will cost around $50,000.
